LSP Automotive Announces Expansion in Union County

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. - October 30, 2008 - The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Union County today announced that LSP Automotive Systems LLC will expand its facility in Union County. The $45 million investment is expected to create 61 new jobs.

 

 

Osage Bio to build first bio fuels faciltiy in Union County

 

Virginia-based fuel company Osage Bio Energy (OBE) announced its plans Tuesday to build a $161.5 million barley-based ethanol plant in eastern Union County. It is the state’s first ethanol production facility.

 

 

LSP Automotive To Invest $48 Million, create 75 Jobs

 

Columbia, SC - LSP Automotive Systems Ltd. announced today that it has chosen to build a new sheet metal stamping facility in Union County to supply BMW with body parts for automobiles manufactured in Greer, SC. LSP will initially invest $48 million and employ 75-100 people when the plant opens in full production in 2008, and reach a total generated investment of $96 million and employ 130 when it reaches its five year goal.

 

 

SC Department of Commerce Provides Grant To Help Build New Industrial Park

 

Dollar General is getting a new neighbor - an industrial park.

 

Union County Council voted unanimously Wednesday to buy a 164-acre site on S.C. 18 from Perry N. Trakas for $1,019,477.17. The land will be purchased with a $750,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund allocation from the S.C. Department of Commerce and $269,477.17 from the county's economic development fund. The county will spend another $65,000 to have the site certified for industrial use.
